The Allandale Neighbor newsletter is printed and distributed to about 4,900 Allandale residents every other month. The newsletter, which started in 1985, provides news, information, and advertisements to our residents. No previous journalism or editorial experience required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.

The editor is a volunteer position that requires 15 to 20 hours every issue (every other month). The editor coordinates content contributors (many of which are the same every issue) and newsletter staff to obtain, edit, and publish articles.

The editor does not solicit advertisements; however, the editor is responsible for balancing content and advertisements approximately 50-50 every issue.

The Allandale Neighbor is delivered to residents mostly using Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM). The editor works with EDDM (a service of the US Post Office), preparing reports, order forms, and invoices for each issue. We require about 90 issues to be distributed by hand (because EDDM does not reach them) and also a few need to be hand-delivered to content contributors; the editor typically works with the ANA president for those.
