TODAY is the actual 60th anniversary of our beloved Gullett elementary school. 60 years ago on this day, students came to school for the first time, in cold and rain, with lots of mud and no street, no sidewalks. The teachers literally carried kids over the mud and to classrooms! Until this date for that school year in 1956, Gullett students shared space with Highland Park. Since this date, we’ve had Geckos in the hood. This year, over 600 of them who celebrated the birthday today with a sock hop, trivia of all the decades since 1956, and an all school singing of Happy Birthday with cupcakes at the end of the day. Happy 60th GULLETT!
