Bike to Work Day is organized by BikeAustin, which improves quality of life for all of Austin and Central Texas by growing bicycling as a form of transportation, exercise, and recreation. Joining BikeAustin has many benefits including discounts at local bike shops.
If you are at all inclined to ride your bike to work or school, take advantage of one or more of the many free breakfast fueling stations in and around Allandale on Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 20th. Stops will be open from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and include Shoal Creek Blvd. at the Far West trail, El Chilito on Burnet, Austin Cake Ball on Burnet, Performance Bike on Anderson Ln., Thunderbird Coffee and Uppercrust Bakery. Gullett familes can enjoy the stop on Shoal Creek Blvd. on the way to school. There are also other goodies offered at most stops.
If you are headed downtown by bike and want company, feel free to join the bike train that leaves Thunderbird on Koenig at 7:30 a.m. and stops at Quacks and Wheatsville before ending up at City Hall.
