Headed for the Homestretch: It’s been over a year since ANA was first notified about the proposed Austin Oaks Planned Unit Development. Now it’s decision making time.
The City of Austin planning & development department will have to make a recommendation based on dozens of staff reviews.
On 15-Sep (subject to postponement): the case is on the Zoning and Platting Commission agenda. Commissioners could make a recommendation based on input from CoA planning & development staff, the Austin Oaks developer, and area residents. However, it appears that staff has no recommendation at this time.
The case is not on the Environmental Commission 16-Sep agenda.
Austin City Council will ultimately decide what happens.
Meanwhile, Information Session: All 4-corners area neighbors are invited to attend a community meeting on 08-Sep, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., hosted by Balcones Civic Association. CoA planning & zoning staff will talk about the Austin Oaks PUD process and answer questions. Location: Austin Board of Realtors Building, 4800 Spicewood Springs Road.

The case was “indefinitely postponed” at the ZAP meeting on Sept. 15th. Out in the hall afterward, Robert Thomas of NWACA said there is no “4-corners alliance” anymore, why NWACA started negotiating again with the developer’s agent at least as early as August 27th, according to testimony from Steven Drenner. Senior City Staff started trying to expedite conclusions to portions of the PUD 2 days after that ZAP “indefinite postponement.” Time to start emailing Council Members again on the Traffic (density) and Tree problems within the discretionary Austin Oaks PUD proposal. We also need involvement against from Allandale and North Shoal Creek NA again.
