Today's Austin American-Statesman article reports on the status of efforts by Brentwood and Allandale to prevent Little Woodrow's from opening up on Burnet Rd in the former Nelson Puett real estate buidling. The first sentence in the article, "Plan for Little Woodrow’s bar on Burnet Road faces opposition from neighbors," by Farzad Mashhood, pretty much sums it up: "Residents along fast-changing Burnet Road in North Central Austin are fighting a plan to bring a bar to the area, and so far they haven’t found many allies in City Hall." As reported earlier on this site, the City Council voted 4 – 2 on the first reading to approve the change in zoning that would allow Little Woodrow's to open on Burnet Rd. A final vote on the zoning request is likely to take place at the January 31 council meeting. You will find additional coverage on Little Woodrow's from a January 11, YNN report, "Neighbors protest plans for a Little Woodrow's," and a KXAN January 11 report, "Brentwood neighborhood opposes new bar."
