This week's Austin Chronicle has an article about Short Term Rentals that includes comments from Allandale's Rob Robinson in an April 2011 article in the Allandale Neighbor. Last week, the Austin City Council voted (5-2) to allow short-term rentals in neighborhoods for both owner-occupied homes and non-owner occupied (commercial) homes in neighborhoods with a cap of 3% in any one ZIP code. The Chronicle article, "There Goes the Neighborhood," by Josh Roseblatt, provides background on the debate and the pros and cons of short-term rentals. The vote on STRs will come up again for a second reading at the Council's next meeting on June 28. You can get an idea of how many short-term rentals there are currently in Allandale by looking at the map for Allandale on site here or on AirBnB site here.
