Come Celebrate Mother's Day With

 Austin's Queen Of Jazz
Pam Hart  in a Special Mother's Day Concert

with The McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra

Austin, Texas – Apr 11, 2012 – Austin's first lady of Jazz, Pamela Hart, is teaming up with the acclaimed McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra for a special concert to honor mothers, grandmothers and jazz lovers of all ages.  Treat your mother and yourself to this special concert scheduled for 7pm, Friday May 11th at  the McCallum Fine Arts Centre (5600 Sunshine Drive), which opened this fall.

For the second year now we will be continuing this wonderful partnership which will blend  the soothing songs of one of Austin's favorite jazz vocalists with the backing of an all-female string ensemble selected from McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra.  McCallum Assistant Orchestra Director Georgeann Shockley will lead the ensemble, which features a program full of jazz favorites.

"Pam Hart's voice is as smooth as velvet, as bold as dark roasted coffee, and as luxurious as fine silk, and she sings in a way that appears effortless." Molly McManus, Austin Woman.

As well as being a very talented vocalist and performer, Ms. Hart is well loved in Austin for her role in shaping Austin's Jazz Community.  Pamela Hart started and runs the inclusive and much needed nonprofit Women In Jazz with her husband Kevin.  Women In Jazz provides exposure to female jazz performers and fosters the appreciation of jazz in Austin.  Many young female performers receive much needed exposure and guidance through this organization's work.

In sync with these goals is the McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra, which works hard to help its young musicians gain exposure to music performance and appreciation.  This year students have competed on both regional and state levels as well as going out of state to visit and study programs at both LSU and Loyola University.  In addition they have performed in community parks as well as with veteran musicians the Eggmen.  This concert is our first fundraiser towards next year's trip to New York
city where the Orchestra hopes to perform in concert at Carnegie Hall.

This combination promises to be a great evening of classic jazz and a fitting tribute for Mother's Day.  Please join us with the whole family.
The concert will take place on Friday May 11th, 2012 at 7pm at The McCallum Fine Arts Centre at 5600 Sunshine Drive.  Tickets are available online at Ticket prices Adult $20, Students $10, and Seniors $15.  Concessions and gifts for Mom available for purchase at this event.
