Please come to a meeting on Tuesday to participate in a discussion on the Bike Pathway proposal published in the Februrary Allandale Neighbor newsletter. The article, written by Katie Larsen lays out a draft bike pathway plan proposed by the Lamar Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Committee. Many of the members of that group are Allandale residents, myself included.
Since the newsletter came out, SRTS representatives Katie Larsen and Jane Herrin have been getting feedback on the proposal, both support and concerns. The proposal calls for converting Wynona to a one way street going north. It was determined this would be the safest approach for children arriving to the school on bikes. Residents around the Lamar Middle School however are concerned about safety as well and how the change will affect traffic flow in the area. Other people have expressed concern about removing parking on White Rock to accommodate the proposed bike pathway.
Please take a look at the proposal (click here) and provide your feedback at the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Lamar Middle School Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m, and/or leave your comment on this post. The objective of the bike pathway is create a safer route to school for children riding their bikes to both Gullett and Lamar Middle Schools via White Rock. We look forward to hearing from you.
