The June 2011 issue of the Allandale Neighbor will be landing on your doorsteps this week. It is our summer issue and what better time to learn about the revival of the Burnet Road Farmer's Market. That is our cover story. We spoke with J Kruse, Market Director, and learned that the Market is more than a place to shop for fresh produce. It includes a schedule of music, events, and food. This Thursday evening and Saturday morning, for example, the Market will be having a grand opening of its foodie truck court. Check it out!
As always, the newsletter will get you caught up with the latest on the neighborhood association's activities. Walter Brewer fills us in on the details of the new theater going up at McCallum. I wrote an article about the new mixed use development being planned for Burnet Rd, brought to you by the same developer of 5350 Burnet Rd.
Other articles in this issue cover how folks in Allandale voted in the recent city council election, gardening tips, plus our regular columns: Dog Talk (by Cheryl Silver), Gullett Good News (by Stephanie Schulz), and Neighborhood Watch (by Laura DiCarlo). Donna Beth McCormick has the details on the upcoming parade. She is looking for volunteers. There is more but that should be enough to get you interested. It is all news about where you live. Here is a link to a pdf version of the newsletter.
