Intersection of Bull Creek Road and Northland Drive: Beginning tomorrow (5/11/11), this intersection will be closed for installation of the box culvert. We do not know how long it will take to lay the culvert across the intersection. In general, we’ve been completing between 30 and 50 feet a day, but the work in this intersection may take longer due to the proximity of water, wastewater and gas lines.
Bull Creek Rd, north of Shoal Creek Blvd: The contractor is continuing the installation of the box culvert under Bull Creek Road. As of May 6, the culvert had been installed up to 5615 Bull Creek Rd. By the end of this week, the contractor will likely reach 5619. The road closure will extend a few houses to either side of the work. The work may move north of Northland next week.
The contractor has hit rock under Bull Creek Rd., which has slowed progress and increased the level of noise and dust. The dust and noise are caused by breaking the limestone bedrock. About once a day, the contractor is required to sweep the dust off the roadway, resulting in a temporary, large cloud of dust. This is hard to control even with the use of water.
Once the storm drain line is installed, the contractor will need to come back at least three more times. First will come the installation of new service connections to the waterline for each house. This work should be much faster than installing the storm drain line. Second will be reconstructing the road, and one final time, most likely at the very end of the project, to put a top coat on the road.
Intersection of Allandale Road and Bull Creek Road: The plans call for the new storm drain line to cross this intersection. Before this starts, the contractor will "pot-hole" the intersection to confirm the location of the waterlines. The potholing will take place in May, either at night or on a weekend, and will cause the closure of two lanes of traffic on RM 2222 at the Bull Creek Road intersection.
Bullard Dr: Will continue to be completely closed at Carleen Dr. for up to two more months. The bore is now complete, but the storm drain line still needs to be installed.
Outfall: Work is not complete in the parkland near Shoal Creek and Bull Creek Road for installation of the outfall. The outfall is where the storm water will be released into the creek. More work is needed in this area to finish the headwall. This work is not scheduled at this time.
We apologize for the inevitable inconvenience associated with this construction. We are trying to minimize it as much as possible.
