This year's National Night Out is Tuesday, October 5, 2010. National Night Out is when neighborhoods throughout Austin and thousands of communities nationwide get together to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
2. Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
On October 5, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Austin and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and EMS paramedics. Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout the city and nationwide. Click here for more information about National Night Out.
Allandale has always had a strong turnout for this event. You may have already been contacted by your block captain about a NNO party in your area. It's a great way to get to know neighbors better and spread the word about Neighborhood Watch. Contact Allandale's Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Laura DiCarlo to learn more about our neighborhood watch program or to find out who the block captain in your are is. lhdicarlo [Email address: lhdicarlo #AT# yahoo.com - replace #AT# with @ ].
