FORMER RADIO CITY ROCKETTE KICKS IT UP A NOTCH AT THE BARRE WITH AN INTENSE BODY SCULPTING TECHNIQUE AS DANCERS SHAPE PREMIERES ON BURNET ROAD

Austin, TX–Bursting onto the local fitness scene with a studio concept featuring blended methods unique to Austin, Dancers Shape has announced its grand opening on October 25th. Located in the recently completed mixed-use project at 5350 Burnet Road, Dancers Shape will offer a variety of classes utilizing time-tested practices, with elements from the “best of the best,” to introduce a new style of fitness to Central Texas. Founded by former Radio City Rockette and UT Alum Jennifer McCamish, the studio will offer McCamish’s signature Dancers Shape class, in addition to classes that include non-traditional Pilates, yoga and dance-inspired stretching techniques designed to strengthen, tone and sculpt the body.

"During the thirteen years I danced on the New York stage, maintaining the highest level of fitness and flexibility was essential to my success,” Owner Jennifer McCamish said. “Over time, I recognized that a method was evolving that not only maximized physical results in a time-efficient manner, but also helped to rehabilitate my hip after surgery and get me back into my ‘dancer’s shape.’ This was my inspiration for the studio’s concept and I’m so excited to bring this technique back home to Austin."

Although the Dancers Shape method was developed by a professional dancer, it has been adapted to suit anyone interested in improving his or her personal fitness. It combines modified elements from all forms of exercise that dancers use to maintain their shape and fitness, including ballet, yoga, Pilates, and traditional circuit training, all of which are core-based philosophies that focus on breath. These movements are incorporated with the principle of overload, interval training and polished off with mindful movement and joint stabilization to achieve maximum results in the least amount of time. The Dancers Shape stretch series completes each class to lengthen and create lean, flexible muscles.

Major muscle groups are worked to burn fat, sculpt muscles and elevate the heart rate using light weights, a ballet barre and the student’s own body weight. Isometric toning moves, tweaked ballet positions, specialized movement, core strengthening Pilates moves and yoga-dance stretches are all part of this unique approach to a total body workout.

The contemporary studio space at Dancers Shape includes an 800 square ft. classroom featuring sprung wood flooring, in addition to a lounge and a chic, high energy reception area featuring local art.
