Last Thursday at the Frame Corner Gallery on Burnet Rd just south of Karavel shoes was the opening for the 1st Annual Austin Bike Poster Show. The poster show is running for the month of May (bike month) where you will see 24 posters on display, selected from a group of 46. The posters promote cycling in Austin. The show opening was well attended. Many of the members of the Lamar Safe Routes to School (SRTS) committee were in attendance including Donna Beth McCormick, Jane Herrin, and Laura DiCarlo. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of the posters go to SRTS.
At the show opening, the winning poster was announced (click here to see photos from the opening). Council Member Chris Riley and the Bike and Pedestrian Program Manager, Annick Beaudett were in attendance. They were two of the three judges who selected the winner. The winning poster is "Commute" by Kevin Nadeau. The judges acknowledged choosing an overall winner was difficult because of the high quality of the submissions. You can see all of the posters here.
Come to the Frame Corner Gallery at 5601 Adams Ave, to see them in person. The posters are on sale for $25 each. Support art and cycling in Austin and Safe Routes to School, buy a poster.
