Last week News8 Austin reported that in spite of little visible activity at the site, Wal-Mart is still moving forward with construction: "While there has been progress at Northcross Mall, the lot that is supposed to be home to the super Wal-Mart still sits empty." According to Wal-Mart's spokesperson quoted in the article on the News8 web site, "Plans still underway for Super Wal-Mart at Northcross," construction will get underway in November or December with the opening a year from now. This is consistent with what we reported in July. The lawsuits by RG4N and Allandale Neighborhood Association with the city and the developer were settled last month. The Wal-Mart Supercenter was first announced in November, 2006. Click here to read News8's update on the project. I have contacted the local Wal-Mart spokesperson to get an elevation of the store for the web site.
