August cover We are a early with the August issue of Allandale Neighbor. Normally, the newsletter is delivered around the middle of the month but to coordinate summer schedules we needed to publish it sooner. Please email me if you do not receive your newsletter by Friday.

The newsletter includes news on recent developments around the neighborhood. We have updates on the Great Northern Detention Pond project, the 5350 Burnet Rd mixed-use development, and Wal-Mart. BTW, the Allandale Executive Committee voted at last week's monthly meeting to settle the lawsuit. Check back later for the details. If you're concerned about what we might expect with the new developments over time, read Steven Zettner's article: "Momentum Builds for New Parks, Trails & Sidewalks in North Central Austin."

The August newsletter includes photos from the 4th of July Parade as well as a list of the parade winners. This neighborhood puts on a good parade.

Do you like Thai food? If so, Jen Welch's review of Madam Mam's will interest you. It's a relatively new restaurant on Anderson Ln and Jen did an excellent job reporting on what to expect.

In the four years I've been involved with the Allandale newsletter and web site I rarely come up short on  discovery. Cathy Savage wrote an article on "The All Austin Cooperative Nursery." What a great resource right here in Allandale, Austin, Tx.

We included an insert in this issue about changes to the Allandale Neighborhood Association bylaws. There is a group of dedicated volunteers who have been working on updating the bylaws to make them fit with the times. You can read the current bylaws at this link. We will be adding the revised version soon for your consideration. The amended by-laws will be presented for adoption at the September meeting.

There's more in the newsletter for your reading pleasure. It's about community. Enjoy!
