The Party’s Over

submitted by Tom Davis

The McCallum Football Knights season ended last Friday night in College Station, when they took on the Waller Bulldogs from District 18 4A. When the final whistle blew the Knights were sent packing with a 41 to 20 loss.

The game looked like it was going to be an offensive showdown with both teams being able to move the ball down the field with ease. McCallum’s lone score in the first quarter was a touchdown pass from Kevin Lusson to Xavier Jefferson. Unfortunately the Knights defense could not stop the Bulldogs running game, and trailed at the end of the first quarter 14 to 7.

Austin Empty Bowl Project

If you were wondering why the crowds on Burnet Rd around Clay Ways Sunday afternoon, it’s because people were lining up to participate in the Austin Empty Bowl Project hosted every year at Clay Ways.

It’s a wonderful event to raise money for the Austin Capitol Area Food Bank. Judging from the line of people waiting to get in, they raised a pile of money. This is a big event. There are a number of sponsors, donors and volunteers that work together to pull it off.
