Yes, folks,
football season is quickly approaching, and the McCallum High Football Booster
Club is gearing up for the upcoming year.

The Booster
Club had their initial meeting July 26, where Head Coach Pat Honeycutt introduced
McCallum’s new Defensive Coordinator, Pete Solana. He has been coaching for 17 years, with his
most recent role as Defensive Coordinator at Pflugerville Hendrickson.

Coach Honeycutt introduced the rest of the
coaching staff that were present to the parents of the new players. He then
addressed the meeting on this season’s outlook, which looks very promising.

The Booster
Club has several fundraisers scheduled for this season. Along with selling
merchandise, the club publishes the Football Program, which will be available
at all home games. The Football Booster Club is sponsoring a “Year of
Knights”
calendar fundraising project for the 2006 football
season.  This first time project will feature photos of the junior and
senior football players and will be available for sale to parents, students,
and the community.   The calendar will consist of the academic school
year (Aug 2006 – July 2007) and include schedules, special events, holidays,
etc., that are of interest to the McCallum community.

The team started practice on August 7,
getting prepared for this year’s march to the championship. On Friday, August
11th, the football team will have the annual Blue/Gray Scrimmage,
beginning at 5:30 pm. Come join the fun and get to know the team players and
coaches. This event will also feature
the McCallum Band, Blue Brigade and Cheerleaders. New merchandise will be on sale, along with
food and drinks.

McCallum’s
first scrimmage this year is Saturday morning, August 19th, against
Pflugerville Hendrickson at Hendrickson. Freshmen and JV scrimmages start about 9 am, Varsity at 10 am.
